Power, Corruption & Lies

I loved the guitar and synth parts he wrote for Editors…
Hopefully this will not have a bad influence on the new album coming up.

Chromatics - Kill For Love

Chromatics - Kill For Love

Genre: Synth-Pop

Artist: Chromatics
Album: Kill for Love
Song: “These Streets Will Never Look the Same”

In a time where the mainstream gives us an overflow of songs wrapped in autotune and vocoders, you might think it’s an awful thing to use. But that’s entirely wrong.
Bon Iver, Kanye West, James Blake and now Chromatics use autotune in a way it contributes something to the song. It doesn’t sound organic. It creates some form of alienation. Having the songs name in mind, it seemed exactly the right thing to do.

And also it sounds fantastic! :P

Seems like they have even completed a whole album already.
Sadly, they haven’t released a song yet.

Lanterns On The Lake - Gracious Tide, Take Me Home

Lanterns On The Lake - Gracious Tide, Take Me Home

Genre: Dream Pop / Ambient

Artist: Lanterns On The Lake
Album: Gracious Tide, Take Me Home
Song: “I Love You, Sleepyhead”

Lanterns on the Lake is a six piece band from the UK.
I just discovered them, but their LP called Gracious Tide, Take me Home was released in September last year. When I heard “I Love You, Sleepyhead”for the first time, the ending reminded me of Sigur Rós. Which is never a bad thing. :P

And here’s the cover of Power, Corruption & Lies.

And here’s the cover of Power, Corruption & Lies.

Here’s the first one.

Genre: Post-Punk / Synth-Pop

Artist: New Order
Album: Power, Corruption & Lies
Song: “Age of Consent”

Pretty cheesy with my name and all. :P

It might be interesting to know that New Order is Joy Division without Ian Curtis.
After the death of Ian Curtis the band went on under a new name.
New Order was born. On this album they left the dark atmosphere, Joy Division is so famous for, behind. They started making music that has a “happier” feel. Another interesting thing about the album is the use of synthesizers and sequencers.

New Tumblr.

Hello,

More and more I find myself complaining about the music I hear on the radio.
Even though I usually listen to an “alternative” radio (That’s what they call themselves…) I still get annoyed by 90% of the music they play.
Skrillex and Rihanna are great examples.
Lately I have been thinking about how nice it would be to start my own radio station. That would cost a lot of money.
And even worse, it would take a lot of work :P
The best alternative I could come up with was some kind of site where I could post a song every once in a while.

So here I am…

I don’t expect this to be a success.
If it’s not, I might stop. If it is, I will continue :P

Greets,

PC&L
